Snow is on the way and in this latest post, I'm going to explain my thinking on the possible snowfall totals. I will also explain what to expect for your area and when to expect it.
The latest forecast of 4 inches or more of snow has no expanded into western Indiana. By looking at the latest computer model data, I'm somewhat agreeing with what the HPC's thinking is. During the 1200 UTC time frame, precipitation will be at it's max and over this area, it should fall as all snow. I'm interested to see if they will expand the 4 inches or more further to the east to include parts of our area. One of the big questions about this system is, will it be rain or snow?
Notice to 0 degree line (blue line) over our local area. Also, Notice the precipitation is push off to the east during this time. I think snow will be dominate for all of southern Indiana. Northern Kentucky should stay mostly snow but transition to a quick shower or mist during the mid morning hours. Central and Southern Kentucky should see a quick burst of snow later tonight and then transition to all rain.
Here is my thinking and before you think anything, I know my totals are a tick higher but I have examined the data and with the surge of warmer temperatures, I personally think there will be some pockets of moderate to heavy snow. I know I said it last time, BUT I really do think this will be the biggest snowfall we have seen this season!
The Winter Weather Advisory is valid from 7:00pm this evening through 7:00am tomorrow morning. Snow should begin around 8:00pm and continue through the overnight hours. Make sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates.
